Weekend Plans: 25 Things to Do This Weekend

What’s on your to-do list this weekend?

For me, it’s a mix of chores and kitchen time. I’ll be taking this KitchenAid stand mixer out for a spin to help with some weekend baking projects.

I haven’t decided exactly what to make yet. My recipe bookmarks, Pinterest pins, and flour-stained notes are all competing for attention, so there’s plenty to choose from.

I’m leaning toward puff pastry for a quick, elegant result. There’s a thawed sheet in the freezer practically begging to be turned into something warm and flaky.

One idea is apple tortes made with sliced apples tossed in cinnamon, sugar, brown sugar, and a touch of vanilla. Folded into the pastry or arranged on top, they bake up with a golden, caramelized edge and a tender, spiced interior.

When those apples and spices hit the oven, the house fills with the comforting aroma of baking fruit and butter-drenched pastry. It’s the kind of smell that makes the whole place feel cozy—no scented candle required.

Ever since I made the Avocado, Cream Cheese, and Salsa-Stuffed Puff Pastries, I can’t stop brainstorming new puff pastry recipes. Savory or sweet, puff pastry is fast, versatile, and always impressive.

Alongside baking, my weekend list includes the usual errands: grocery shopping, laundry, a little dusting, and cleaning the showers. Not glamorous, but everything feels better after a bit of productive weekend momentum.

To keep energy up for chores and kitchen experiments, I might whip up a batch of Baked Cinnamon Bun Donuts with Vanilla Cream Cheese Glaze. They’re a quick pick-me-up and fill the house with that familiar cinnamon-sweet scent.

If you don’t have a donut pan, these work well as muffins and still deliver that gooey cinnamon goodness reminiscent of a mall cinnamon roll—dangerously delicious and perfect fuel for the weekend.

I love that baking doubles as a mood booster: it produces something tasty, brightens the kitchen with warm aromas, and gives you momentum to tackle the rest of your list. Whether you go for a simple apple torte, savory puff pastries, or cinnamon-sugar treats, the process is comfortingly familiar and satisfying.

So, I’ll gather my ingredients, preheat my enthusiasm, and start somewhere—there’s no wrong choice. What’s on your to-do list this weekend?
