Is DIME really a “clean” brand?
DIME markets itself as a clean brand and, broadly speaking, it meets many clean-beauty expectations. You’ll find no phthalates, parabens, or ingredients on EWG’s banned list in their formulations. They’re transparent about ingredient lists and use glass and recycled packaging in many products.
That said, some formulations include ingredients that more cautious consumers might prefer to avoid or minimize. Two examples worth noting:
- Phenoxyethanol: Used as a preservative in several DIME products. The company keeps concentrations below 1%, and they batch-test for contaminants, but phenoxyethanol remains a debated ingredient in the clean-beauty community.
- Certain polymeric ingredients: Some formulas include ingredients like ammonium acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP copolymer or carbomer, which may be considered liquid plastics or microplastic-like materials. Human safety data is generally acceptable, but environmental persistence is a concern for some consumers.

My honest thoughts after using DIME’s products
Cleansing Balm
This creamy oil-to-balm cleanser melts into the skin to remove makeup and daily grime. It’s moisturizing while effectively breaking down mascara and longwear makeup. The scent is very faint. For anyone who enjoys the balm-style cleanse, this is a strong, affordable option.
Verdict: Recommended—would repurchase.
Gentle Jelly Cleanser
This gel-to-foam cleanser strikes a nice balance between oil and soap-based cleansers. It removes makeup well without stripping, has a light natural scent from strawberry oil, and is EWG Verified. Note: it contains hydrolyzed wheat protein, so those with wheat allergies should be cautious.
Verdict: A favorite—would repurchase.
Hyper Glow Serum
DIME’s vitamin C serum includes 15% L-ascorbic acid to brighten skin and address hyperpigmentation. It absorbs quickly, leaves skin radiant, and offers strong value for a potent vitamin C formula. This product does contain phenoxyethanol.
Verdict: Effective and worth buying again.
TBT Serum
This anti-aging serum blends bakuchiol (a plant-based retinol alternative) with mandelic acid for gentle chemical exfoliation. It’s lightweight and layers well under makeup. The formula improves skin texture and brightness when used consistently. EWG Verified; contains phenoxyethanol.
Verdict: Solid—would repurchase.
Hyaluronic Acid Serum
Light, jelly-like, and minimally formulated, this hyaluronic serum delivers hydration and a pleasing plumpness. Unscented and EWG Verified, it layers well under other products. Contains phenoxyethanol.
Verdict: Reliable—would repurchase.
Blue Facial Oil
Blue tansy oil, meadowfoam, and rosehip appear in this midweight facial oil that calms redness and provides antioxidant protection. It applies blue but rubs in clear and leaves skin soft and soothed. Best used at night for my skin type.
Verdict: Likeable—would repurchase.
Dewy Day Cream
This lightweight daytime moisturizer absorbs nicely, leaves skin hydrated, and suits a variety of skin types. It is EWG Verified but includes carbomer, an ingredient some consumers question for environmental reasons.
Verdict: Very good, with minor reservations for ingredient-conscious shoppers.
TBT Cream
A thicker, restorative cream from the TBT line, this product seals in moisture overnight without added fragrance. It absorbs well and leaves skin plump. I’d repurchase.
TBT Eye Cream
This lightweight eye cream contains bakuchiol, squalane, and chlorella. It has a pleasant cooling feel on application and is unscented. A little goes a long way, and it works well under makeup.
Verdict: Suitable and effective—would repurchase.
Restorative Night Cream
Similar in feel to the Dewy Day Cream but richer, this night cream includes plant lipids and peptides to support repair and collagen stimulation. It’s nourishing and absorbs well, though I’d prefer fewer polymeric ingredients.
Verdict: Good, but not a first-choice repurchase for me.
Acne Toning Serum
Targeted to oily and breakout-prone skin, this serum uses salicylic acid to clear and prevent blemishes. Use it intentionally—avoid overuse and be mindful of sensitivities. The bottle size offers strong value.
Verdict: Helpful for spot treatment—would repurchase as needed.
Super Firm Serum
This formulation includes peptides plus an extract intended to limit muscle contractions for a temporary tightening effect. In practice it can firm but may flake or pill under makeup if not mixed thoroughly first. The dispenser and separation issues make it fussy.
Verdict: Mixed—probably not a repurchase for me.
Luminosity Eye Serum
Lightweight and quick-absorbing, this serum targets brightness, puffiness, and fine lines. It feels high-quality on application but didn’t deliver dramatic immediate results for me.
Verdict: Decent, but I wouldn’t prioritize repurchasing.
Volume Mascara (my favorite DIME product!)
This mascara is the standout product for me. The formula builds volume without clumping, provides separation and length, and is impressively water-resistant in workouts and summer heat. Importantly for clean-beauty seekers, it avoids concerning ingredients and performs exceptionally well.
Verdict: Absolutely a repurchase and a staple in my routine.
Eyelash Boost Serum
This serum contains amino acids, peptides, and vitamins intended to support lash growth. Many users report positive results after consistent use for several months. Some people—myself included—may experience mild sensitivity around the eyes, and the formula contains phenoxyethanol. If you plan consistent application and have sensitive eyes, proceed cautiously.
Verdict: Promising but not a near-term repurchase for me.
Perfume & Cologne
- Uses non-denatured organic sugar cane alcohol and lists ingredients transparently.
- Options span feminine, masculine, and gender-neutral scents.
- One scent is currently EWG Verified; others are free of phthalates and parabens.
Favorites: 7 Summers for a fresh feel; Voir Le Bon appealed to my partner. Scents are generally long-lasting without being overpowering.
Verdict: Affordable, cleaner fragrance options worth trying.
“The Glaze” Body Oil
A lightweight, antioxidant-rich body oil that hydrates without heavy residue. Ingredients include apricot, argan, rosehip, almond, and jojoba oils. The formula contains dimethicone, a silicone some buyers avoid but which helps with smooth application.
Verdict: Pleasant and effective; other body moisturizers may be prioritized first.
Whipped Body Exfoliator
This exfoliator leaves skin noticeably softer and includes lactic and salicylic acids, making it a strong option for body acne. It uses polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) spherical beads as a gentler microbead alternative; PHB is generally biodegradable but is still a newer ingredient with limited lifecycle data. Contains phenoxyethanol.
Verdict: Effective and gentle—recommended for body texture concerns.
DIME Biome Body Butter
Framed around a probiotic lysate intended to support the skin microbiome, this body butter includes nourishing butters and oils. Its texture is mid-weight and absorbent. However, the formula contains several synthetic polymers and preservatives that give me pause when comparing to the cleanest available body butters.
Verdict: Enjoyable to use, but not my top pick for repurchase.
Dewy Recovery Mask
This rich, mask-like moisturizer delivers deep hydration with snow mushroom, NAD+, and vitamin C. It can be used as a 15–20 minute mask or overnight treatment and leaves skin noticeably plumper. Some formulas include dimethicone and other polymeric ingredients that concern those aiming to minimize liquid-plastic inputs.
Verdict: Luxurious and effective, though not my top pick due to ingredient preferences.
